Europe lacks experts for completing digital transformation by 2030. The latest Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI) shows that the low level of digital maturity of SMEs is particularly alarming. They are struggling to find qualified workers to support digitalisation and optimisation of their services, systems and processes. Often, they don’t have the know-how themselves to effectively train their employees, all together hindering European competitiveness as well as sovereignty in key technology areas.

The EU, is putting in place and supporting initiatives to raise awareness of the importance of acquiring digital skills, e.g. the EU Code Week, and mobilising a significant amount of resources to support the skills for the digital transformation, e.g. the DIGITAL Europe programme.

However, a joint effort on the ground gathering all actors is needed to make sure that people have the right skills for mastering digital technologies, that managers and owners have enough quality opportunities to learn how to digitally transform their enterprises and that the education system delivers sufficient number of qualified digital experts.

Usually, these forces come together through partnerships between the public sector (local and regional authorities, state-backed agencies) and private companies. These collaborations ensure that each part of the society brings its strengths to the table, thus maximising the impact of their actions.

This webinar will show concrete examples of collaboration between public and private organisations from the digital skills domain. Speakers will tell stories about what they do to train as many Europeans as possible in digital skills, and inspire other organisations and businesses to do the same.

A collaborative principle is at the heart of the National Digital Skills and Jobs Coalitions: networking of active stakeholders on the European and national level working together with a common objective: to bridge the digital skills gap in Europe reach the Digital Decade targets and boosting Europe’s competitiveness.
